HOUSTON – A man who was walking along the roadway in southwest Houston was struck and killed by an SUV Thursday night, according to Houston police.
HPD said the man was walking westbound in the 4600 block of Allum at Player shortly before midnight when he was struck by a gold Pontiac Montana and died at the scene.
Police said there was no sidewalk or shoulder on the roadway and the SUV driver did not see the pedestrian until it was too late.
The SUV driver was taken into custody for possible DWI, but police said that does not necessarily mean he will be charged with the fatality since the man was walking in the roadway.
