HOUSTON— A fire destroyed a southwest Houston home Monday and damaged nearby residences, Houston firefighters said.
The blaze started at about 1:15 p.m. at a house located at Cheena Drive and Cliffwood Drive.
Air 11 Video showed heavy flames and thick black smoke blowing from the roof.
It took more than two hours for firefighters to get the flames under control.
Investigator said the fire began in the rear of the house where a box fan was on the patio.
As a north wind carried the blaze to the front of the house, and threatened neighboring homes, the residents sprayed their properties with water.
No injuries were reported.
