Allegiant, beginning Oct. 31, will fly nonstop planes between Lehigh Valley International Airport and Punta Gorda Airport in southwest Florida, the company announced today in a news release.
The new service will have fares as low as $99.99 one way, the company said.
"We are pleased to add the beaches of southwest Florida as another affordable, convenient destination option for Lehigh Valley residents," Allegiant Travel Co. President Andrew C. Levy aid in the release. "Our vacation packages and nonstop service to Orlando and the Tampa Bay area have been very popular with residents. We are confident the community will appreciate the convenience of flying nonstop to Punta Gorda and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservation together."
The flights will be twice a week, the company said. Punta Gorda is in Charlotte County, near the the Gulf of Mexico between Fort Myers and Sarasota.
"We are excited to build upon our long standing partnership with Allegiant and give our customers access to a destination they have been asking for. Punta Gorda is one of our most requested destinations and we are confident that this route will be successful for both Allegiant and the Lehigh Valley International Airport," Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley International Airport Charles Everett said in the release.
The low fares are one way, seats are limited and they are not available on all flights, the company said. Tickets must be purchased by Aug. 6 for travel by Feb. 11, the company said.
