Traffic was jammed on U.S. 59 near downtown Friday morning after a truck hauling small pieces of broken concrete lost some of the rubble.
The incident happened about 9:20 a.m. on the outbound Southwest Freeway near Fannin, according to Houston Transtar.
The truck driver did not stop and the lost debris littered the freeway. Motorists sped into the rubble and the pieces were flung into the air, hitting their cars, officials said. Three lanes were closed while crews cleanup the debris. The truck driver has not been spotted.
No injuries were reported.
