BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Authorities today released the identity of a man killed Sunday night when he was struck by a train in southwest Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as William Bernard Morgan, 57. Morgan lived not far from where he was killed.
The accident happened about 7:15 p.m. on the tracks at 15th Place Southwest and Pearson Avenue. The Norfolk Southern train was traveling westbound.
The train engineer told authorities the man was seen staggering near the tracks and was then struck. Morgan was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:25 p.m.
