An elderly homeowner opened fire on a group of suspects attempting to rob his southwest Houston home, according to Houston police.
A man and his wife were at their home in the 4400 block of Wigton around 8 a.m.Tuesday when they heard a knock on the door.
Police said three men and one woman posing as delivery people talked their way inside, then forced the wife onto the ground. She called out for her husband.
The husband, who is in his 70s, grabbed his firearm and began shooting, according to police.
The attempted robbers fled the scene in an older-model blue car. Police do not believe anyone was hit.
The husband passed out after the shooting, but was alert and talking later.
