Southwest Idaho should see record and near-record highs Friday, according to the National Weather Service's Boise office.
Mountain Home is expected to get a high of 76 degrees, beating out the 1988 record of 75 degrees. Boise likely won't surpass the 1877 record of 78 degrees, but will come close to matching it at 75 degrees. Caldwell will also come close to its record of 77 degrees set in 1986 with a forecast of 75 degrees.
The heat won't last, according to Bill Wojcik, meteorologist with the National Weather Service. A cold front is expected to come in Saturday night, he said.
"This is just a temporary thing," he said. "We have a chance of rain tomorrow, but if we do get anything here in Boise it won't be very much."
