Update — Police have identified 43-year-old Kelly Turner as the victim of the overnight murder in southwest Austin and are now searching for the man they believe is involved.
Police responded to a disturbance call in the 5200 block of McCarty Lane at about 1:05 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they found Turner dead with obvious signs of trauma to her body.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for 53-year-old Joseph Frederick Karr. He's being charged with murder, a first-degree felony, and has bond set at $2 million.
Karr initially fled the scene in a stolen yellow 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Investigators recovered the vehicle, and it's believed that Karr is now on foot in the northern Hays County area.
Karr has gray hair and is between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information about him is asked to call 911 immediately.
Earlier — Austin police are not releasing many details about an overnight murder in southwest Austin.
Officers were called to a disturbance on McCarty Lane near William Cannon just after 1 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found a woman dead at the house.
The man involved with the disturbance ran away before officers arrived. Investigators say the victim and witnesses know the man, but they're not saying much more.
"At this time, this is being investigated as a homicide, but we are going to withhold suspect information until — as far as method of injuries and so forth — until the investigation progresses farther," officer Traver Stefan said.
Witnesses are being interviewed. It's not known if the man involved has been caught.
