BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Next time you fly Southwest, you can pack a little lighter.
As Jessica Kartalija explains, all you need is your ID and a cell phone.
Think “less is more” the next time you take off from BWI. Southwest is now offering a mobile boarding pass option for its customers. That means Southwest customers now only need an ID and their cell phone to check in.
“I think that’s wonderful. It’s a convenience. It saves time,” said one traveler.
This week, the airline added Baltimore to the growing list of cities that accept the mobile boarding pass.
“Southwest is the largest airline partner for us so this is a big step for their customers,” said Jonathan Dean, BWI.
When you go to check in for your flight, Southwest will email or text your boarding pass right to your smart phone. You no longer need to print a pass.
“This gives our shared customers another option for making the check in and checkpoint procedures easy and efficient,” Dean said.
“It’s great. It’s a lot easier,” said one traveler.
With long lines at security, customers say it’s one less thing to think about.
Southwest expects to have mobile boarding at all US cities the company flies by the end of the month.
