Wreck blocks 2 lanes on Southwest Freeway near Fannin - Houston Chronicle

Heavy rain and slick roads Wednesday may have played havoc with motorists in the Houston region.

A two-vehicle wreck just before 1 p.m. temporarily blocked two lanes on the southbound Southwest Freeway near Fannin.

A car fire about 12:15 p.m. slowed traffic on the southbound West Loop near Post Oak. Three lanes were temporarily blocked.

A two-vehicle crash about 9:40 a.m. slowed traffic on the inbound Gulf Freeway near Woodridge. One lane was temporarily blocked. The lane later reopened.

Two separate crashes slowed traffic along other parts of northbound Interstate 45. One crash happened about 9:50 a.m. near FM 1746 in Texas City, temporarily blocking two lanes while crews cleared the scene. Another wreck happened a few minutes earlier near Oak Ridge in Montgomery County. Three lanes were blocked but later reopened.
