Southwest Airlines has completed inspections on 115 of the 128 airplanes that had missed required checks of a backup hydraulic system, the carrier said Friday.

That leaves 13 airplanes still to be inspected by Saturday, the fifth day of the five-day period the Federal Aviation Administration had allowed for Southwest to do the inspections.


Southwest had temporarily grounded the group of Boeing 737-700 airplanes around 5 p.m. Tuesday until the FAA approved a plan Tuesday night to allow the carrier to let the airplanes keep flying while awaiting their inspection.
