KALAMAZOO, Mi. - Does anyone realize that Southwest Michigan hasn't had a gas-price increase in over two weeks?
As prices continue to slide in the area, there is always that feeling that a hike might be in the air. The feeling has nothing to do with the rising price of oil or that caution from the U.S. Congress three weeks ago.
It's just a feeling.
In the meantime, enjoy gas prices which have gone into the $3.50s in many areas of Southwest Michigan. The best price is $3.50 at three stations on 11th Street in Niles - the Shell, Speedway and Murphy USA - as well as the BP on North 32nd Street in Richland, according to the area list of stations on GasBuddy. There are more than 40 area stations in the $3.50s this morning.
In the Kalamazoo and Portage areas, the best price is $3.51 along Gull Road at the Shell, Speedway and Meijer as well as the Citgo on East Main Street. Along the South Westnedge Avenue corridor, the price is $3.53.
On West Main Street in Kalamazoo, the prices range from $3.59 to $3.61 while on Stadium Drive, the best price is $3.55 at the Roadhawk.
The average price in Michigan is down to $3.60, which is 4 cents cheaper than the national average. Just a few weeks ago, Michigan was around 25 cents higher than the national average.
