Kristian Thompson's three touchdown receptions lead Southwest past Hialeah - MiamiHerald.com

Southwest Miami coach Tim Neal is tired of his team being overlooked.

Eagles quarterback D’undre Pickett-White helped shed that stigma for Southwest, connecting with receiver Kristian Thompson for three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat visiting Hialeah 30-19.

Penalties and missed opportunities plagued Southwest throughout the first three quarters, including two sequential turnovers after its defense secured two interceptions from Hialeah quarterback Alin Eduoard, a former University of Miami oral commitment.

After Pickett-White closed the third quarter throwing a touchdown to Hialeah defensive back Niko Gonzalez, he and Thompson dominated the fourth quarter.

They iced the game, connecting on a 32-yard touchdown after Edouard and Hialeah running back Henry Bussey fumbled a handoff with about four minutes left in the game, down 23-19.

“This is a school that is not known for winning in football,” Neal said. “But you know what, we’re working hard every year and doing what we got to do.”
