Looks like there's some big-time trouble at Quartet, the waterfront restaurant that took over the sleek former Lucier space in February.
According to a lawsuit first picked up by the Portland Mercury, Quartet has been "hemorrhaging" money since its Valentine's Day opening, with suppliers on a "cash basis and "tales of paychecks bouncing and of tips withheld so the company can pay its bills."
The suit was filed Aug. 20 by Roy Jay, a major investor in the restaurant. He seeks his initial $70,000 investment, plus half a million dollars in non-economic damages.
