A southwest Iowa man was killed and a 9-year-old boy was flown to a Des Moines hospital Wednesday evening after a four-wheeler apparently flipped on top of them, authorities said.
A volunteer firefighter found the boy and Carey Ishikawa, 41, of Lenox, underneath the all-terrain vehicle in the ditch at a rural intersection northwest of Lenox, according to an Iowa State Patrol report.
Ishikawa was dead. The boy, who was not identified, was transported by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
The crash was reported about 5:30 p.m. Troopers are still investigating.
