Southwest Airlines announced Monday that it will start daily non-stop service from Omaha to Los Angeles on June 8.
Southwest had previously announced Saturday-only flights to Los Angeles starting in June, but strong demand for the service led the airline to add daily flights, officials at Eppley Airfield said.
The once-daily flight will depart Omaha at 2:50 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 4:10 p.m. local time. On Saturdays, the flight will depart at 11:50 a.m. and land at 1:10 p.m.
Southwest will fly the new route with a Boeing 737 aircraft seating 143 passengers. Los Angeles is the largest unserved market from Omaha, and the service represents the first non-stop service to Southern California since 2012.
It will be Southwest's sixth destination served from Omaha. The airline currently provides service to Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix and St. Louis.
