Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a man was shot to death early Friday at an apartment in the southwest side of the city.
And detectives are investigating the possibility that the shooting was related to an incident a few hours earlier at a Charlotte nightclub.
Officers were called shortly after 4 a.m. to the South Oak Crossing Apartments, on Bow Road. That is in a neighborhood off Arrowood Road. Police say they found the man dead at the scene. His name has not been released. But police at the scene said the man was 23 years old.
Officer Robert Trietley, a spokesman for CMPD, said detectives are trying to determine if the shooting was the result of an earlier incident. Detectives at the scene said the incident was at a nightclub on South Summit Avenue in Charlotte’s West End area.
Detectives remain at the scene at 6:30 a.m., collecting evidence and looking for possible witnesses. Police have closed Bow Road, forcing the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to alter the bus stops for students who live nearby.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact detectives at 704-432-TIPS. Information also can be left with Crime Stoppers, at 704-334-1600 or http://charlottecrimestoppers.com.
