WASHINGTON (AP) - For a second day this weekend, protesters blocked traffic in Washington, this time on the Southeast-Southwest Freeway of Interstate-395.

The D.C. Department of Transportation reported the highway was closed Sunday afternoon near the 3rd Street Tunnel. Images online showed a line of protesters holding hands, blocking traffic in both directions.

Police were called to the scene to reroute snarled traffic. The highway was reopened a short time later. Police took a group of protesters into custody.

Some people alongside the protest were holding signs opposing the Ferguson, Missouri, grand jury decision from last week when the jury declined to indict a police officer for shooting an unarmed teenager.

On Saturday, protesters blocked streets in Georgetown and in the Pentagon City area of Arlington County. The protests remained peaceful and nonviolent.
